L’Aïghetta Quartett si è formato nel 1979 a Monte Carlo. Il quartetto si è esibito in pubblico per la prima volta nel 1980, ma si può dire che si è lanciato nella carriera internazionale grazie all’interpretazione del Concerto Andaluso di Joaquin Rodrigo, con la participazione dell’Orchestra Filarmonica di Monte Carlo nel 1982. Numerose «tournées» in Francia, Inghilterra, Italia, Ungheria e Germania si sono susseguite così come moltissime trasmissioni radiofoniche e televisive. Il successo non è dovuto ad una vera e propria innovazione – il canto di un uccello a quattro teste – ma all’ esistenza di una sonorità nuova e irresistibile”, così Anthony Burgess, il celebre autore dell”Arancia meccanica” presentò il quartetto in occasione dell’incisione del primo disco nel 1987. Inoltre il quartetto ha inciso numerosi dischi tra i quali: un omaggio a Bill Evans con il chitarrista jazz John McLaughlin, l’integrale dell’ opera per quattro chitarre dell’autore Inglese Anthony Burgess ed infine l’ultima incisione con le proprie composizioni “Acoustic world”.
Incoraggiato da artisti come Henryk Szeryng, György Cziffra e Riccardo Chailly, l’Aïghetta Quartett suscita da più di trent’ anni l’entusiasmo degli uditori più vari, sia delle sale più prestigiose quali La Fenice a Venezia, il Palau de la Musica Catalana a Barcellona, la Salle Garnier a Monte Carlo, la Galleria Nazionale a Budapest, il Gasteig e la Musikhochschule a Monaco di Baviera, la Brucknerhaus a Linz, la Wigmore Hall a Londra, il Teatro Antico di Arles, il Teatro Dejaset di Parigi, il Castello Mirabell di Salzburg, il Teatro Ghione di Roma etc., sia dei teatri alternativi quali il Theaterhaus di Stuttgart, il Kleintheater di Luzern, il Pantheon Theater di Bonn, etc.

Ha ottenuto il “Soafa d’Oro” per il migliore spettacolo a Dorfen in Germania.

L’insieme collabora con musicisti e compositori di sensibilità musicali molto diverse (numerose creazioni mondiali tra le quali due concerti con orchestra), s’interessa al jazz d’autore dove l’improvvisazione e gli arrangiamenti sono strettamente legati, e più recentemente le musiche moderne attraverso creazioni personali, tentativi di sintesi delle correnti musicali attuali. Questo eclettismo fa si che si possa considerare l’Aïghetta Quartett come uno degli insiemi più innovatori della scena musicale attuale.

The Aïghetta Quartet was formed in 1979 in Monte Carlo. The ensemble collaborates with musicians and composers of very diverse musical sensibilities (numerous world-class creations, including two concertos with orchestra). They are interested in jazz, where improvisation and arrangements are closely linked, and more recently in modern music through personal creations, attempts to synthesize current musical trends. This eclecticism makes the Aïghetta Quartet one of the most innovative ensembles on the current music scene.
