Questo concerto è organizzato in collaborazione con Parolario, dedicato quest’anno alla figura iconica di Agatha Christies.
Da adolescente, Agatha studiò seriamente pianoforte e canto a Parigi. Gli insegnanti le riconobbero un talento sufficiente per una carriera professionistica. Tuttavia, a fermarla fu una caratteristica che poi avrebbe dato vita ai personaggi come Poirot: la timidezza. La paura di esibirsi in pubblico era talmente forte da farla desistere dal diventare una concertista.
C’è un filo invisibile che lega un giallo di Agatha Christie a un recital di pianoforte: l’arte di nascondere indizi, creare attese, trasformare un tema apparentemente innocente in un labirinto di sorprese.
Il recital del noto pianista Bertrand Giraud si snoda infatti sul tema delle variazioni e della suspense. Nei romanzi della Christies, un’apparenza iniziale (un tema) si scompone in molteplici versioni ingannevoli (le variazioni), fino a rivelare la verità finale. È il metodo Miss Marple: nulla è mai ciò che sembra.

This concert is organized in collaboration with Parolario, which this year is dedicated to the iconic figure of Agatha Christies.
As a teenager, Agatha studied piano and singing seriously in Paris. Her teachers recognized her talent for a professional career. However, what held her back was a characteristic that would later give rise to characters like Poirot: shyness. Her fear of performing in public was so strong that she gave up on becoming a concert pianist.
There’s an invisible thread that links an Agatha Christie mystery to a piano recital: the art of hiding clues, creating anticipation, transforming a seemingly innocent theme into a labyrinth of surprises.
The recital by renowned pianist Bertrand Giraud unfolds around the theme of variations and suspense. In Christies’ novels, an initial appearance (a theme) breaks down into multiple deceptive versions (variations), until the final truth is revealed. It’s the Miss Marple method: nothing is ever what it seems.

Nato nel 1971, Bertrand Giraud ha ottenuto il diploma di pianoforte e il Diploma di Musica da Camera nel 1995 con “Mention Très Bien” presso il Conservatorio di Ginevra nella classe di Dominique Merlet. Ha ottenuto anche il diploma di pianista accompagnatore presso il Conservatorio di Parigi. Dal 1995, i suoi insegnanti principali sono stati il maestro Bruno Canino, Colette Zera, e Aquiles Delle Vigne, tutti di primaria importanza nella sua evoluzione artistica. Sotto la loro supervisione, il Bertrand Giraud ha studiato musica da camera, accompagnamento, composizione, analisi musicale e improvvisazione.
Betrand Giraud ha vinto numerosi concorsi musicali nazionali ed internazionali, come il Concorso Flame e il Chopin Piano Competition (Texas, USA), in cui gli è stato assegnato il secondo premio. Si è esibito non solo in Europa (Francia, Belgio, Bulgaria, Inghilterra, Germania, Cipro, Ungheria, Kazakistan, Macedonia, Norvegia, Polonia Austria, Italia, Romania, Russia, Spagna, Serbia e Svizzera), ma anche nelle Americhe, Giappone, Corea, Singapore, Taiwan e Thailandia. Affermato solista, ha collaborato con numerose orchestre (Filarmoniche Lodz, Lublin Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica du Sodre, Orchestre provinciale de Rosario…) e suonato in diversi duetti con altri noti musicisti e gruppi da camera tra cui Pierre Amoyal, Bruno Canino, Bruno Pasquier, Henri Demarquette, Ami Flammer, Philippe Pierlot, Benoit Fromanger e L’Octuor de France.
Nel 2000, ha fatto il suo debutto a New York, città dove è ora invitato regolarmente. Si è esibito per France – Musiques, così come per la tv americana, italiana e tailandese. In questo ultimo caso, ha avuto il piacere di esibirsi per la Regina della Thailandia.
È membro di giuria di molti concorsi internazionali (Audition di Sydney, Porto, Marsala, Ama Calabria, Bitola…)
Oltre a possedere un vasto repertorio solistico tradizionale, Bertrand Giraud si è esibito presentando molta musica contemporanea come Francaix, Pessina e Kutnowski. Ha inoltre commissionato e presentato una nuova opera scritta per lui dal compositore Jean Louis Petit. Dal 1998 è direttore artistico del concorso Jean Françaix.
Ha inciso 17 cd per Erol, Maguelone e Anima Records, ricevuti con consensi dalla stampa specializzata. Tiene masterclass in Serbia, Germania, Kazakhstan (Accademia di musica di Astana), Stati Uniti d’America.

Born in 1971, Bertrand Giraud earned his piano diploma and chamber music diploma in 1995 with “Mention Très Bien” from the Geneva Conservatory in the class of Dominique Merlet. He also earned a diploma as a piano accompanist from the Paris Conservatory. Since 1995, his main teachers have been Maestro Bruno Canino, Colette Zera, and Aquiles Delle Vigne, all of whom have played a key role in his artistic development. Under their supervision, Bertrand Giraud has studied chamber music, accompaniment, composition, musical analysis, and improvisation.
Betrand Giraud has won numerous national and international music competitions, such as the Flame Competition and the Chopin Piano Competition (Texas, USA), where he was awarded second prize. He has performed not only in Europe (France, Belgium, Bulgaria, England, Germany, Cyprus, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Austria, Italy, Romania, Russia, Spain, Serbia, and Switzerland), but also in the Americas, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. An accomplished soloist, he has collaborated with numerous orchestras (Lodz Philharmonic, Lublin Philharmonic, Orchestre Sinfonica du Sodre, Orchestre Provinciale de Rosario, etc.) and performed in several duets with other renowned musicians and chamber groups, including Pierre Amoyal, Bruno Canino, Bruno Pasquier, Henri Demarquette, Ami Flammer, Philippe Pierlot, Benoit Fromanger, and L’Octuor de France.
In 2000, he made his New York debut, a city where he is now a regular guest. He has performed for France-Musiques, as well as for American, Italian, and Thai television. In the latter case, he had the pleasure of performing for the Queen of Thailand.
He is a jury member for numerous international competitions (Sydney Auditions, Porto, Marsala, Ama Calabria, Bitola, etc.)
In addition to a vast traditional solo repertoire, Bertrand Giraud has performed a wide range of contemporary music, including works by Francaix, Pessina, and Kutnowski. He also commissioned and premiered a new work written for him by composer Jean-Louis Petit. Since 1998, he has been artistic director of the Jean Françaix Competition.
He has recorded 17 CDs for Erol, Maguelone, and Anima Records, receiving widespread acclaim from the music press. He holds masterclasses in Serbia, Germany, Kazakhstan (Astana Academy of Music), and the United States.
