PROGRAMMA

La grande musica per pianoforte del 19° secolo è in programma in questa speciale serata con il pianista Christoph Soldan. I due protagonisti Brahms e Liszt sono rappresentativi di concezioni estetico – musicali molto diverse. Liszt compose principalmente su modelli letterari. Egli, il creatore del poema sinfonico, si dedicò a ciò che generalmente chiamiamo musica a programma. Brahms, d’altra parte, si vedeva nella tradizione di Beethoven e preferiva intendere la musica come musica assoluta. Christoph Soldan mostra che oggi consideriamo entrambi i compositori come creatori di musica brillante usando l’esempio delle Variazioni di Händel di Brahms e degli “Années de pélérinage” di Liszt.

Great piano music from the 19th century is on the program in this special evening with pianist Christoph Soldan. The two protagonists Brahms and Liszt are representative of very different aesthetic-musical conceptions. Liszt composed mainly on literary models. He, the creator of the symphonic poem, dedicated himself to what we generally call program music. Brahms, on the other hand, saw himself in the tradition of Beethoven and preferred to understand music as absolute music. Christoph Soldan shows that today we consider both composers as creators of brilliant music using the example of Brahms’ Handel Variations and Liszt’s “Années de pélérinage”.

L’ARTISTA / THE ARTIST

Nato nel 1964, il pianista ha studiato con la Prof. ssa Eliza Hansen e Christoph Eschenbach presso l’Accademia di Musica di Amburgo. La svolta verso una vivace attività concertistica internazionale arrivò attraverso un tour congiunto con Leonard Bernstein nell’estate del 1989. Il direttore d’orchestra di fama mondiale ha commentato Christoph Soldan: “Sono impressionato dalla grandezza spirituale di questo giovane musicista”. Da allora, Soldan ha eseguito numerose tournée con rinomate orchestre in tutta Europa. Tour con recital di pianoforte nell’ottobre 1997 in Messico e in altri paesi dell’America Centrale. Nell’agosto 1998 debutta a Salisburgo e nella Chamber Music Hall della Philharmonie di Berlino, nel maggio 1999 al Gewandhaus di Lipsia. Nel marzo 2000 tre recital pianistici in Giappone. Produzioni radiofoniche e televisive presso Hessischer Rundfunk, Deutschlandfunk, SWR, ORF e ZDF. La Bayerischer Rundfunk ha registrato dal vivo il suo recital di pianoforte nella residenza di Monaco nell’ottobre 1998 e il suo concerto nel Musiktage Bad Brückenau nel maggio 1999. Altre registrazioni dal vivo a Radio Brema e Bayerischer Rundfunk nell’estate 2002. Dal 1996 al 2006 Christoph Soldan ha registrato l’integrale dei concerti per pianoforte di Mozart insieme alla Cappella Istropolitana, alla Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim e alla Schlesische Kammerphilharmonie Katowice. Il ciclo concertistico si è concluso nel gennaio 2006 con i concerti per pianoforte a 2 e 3 pianoforti. 

Il pas de deux per danza e pianoforte – “momenti di una vita” – è stato sviluppato da sua moglie, la ballerina e coreografa Stefanie Goes. Questo lungometraggio teatrale ha avuto la sua prima a Stuttgart nel maggio 2000 e da allora è cambiato costantemente. Ad oggi, sono state create un totale di 7 diverse versioni. Dal 2000, Christoph Soldan lavora regolarmente con lo scrittore Peter Härtling. Nella primavera del 2001 suona ad Amburgo e Berlino, nonché concerti nell’ambito della Primavera di Praga e con la Filarmonica di Baden-Baden. Nel settembre 2002 registrazioni dal vivo all’Augsburger Mozartsommer e al monastero Maulbronn. Nel gennaio 2004 debutta il nuovo pezzo di danza “Something of People and Angels”, seguito da un tour attraverso il Sud Africa. Dal 2007 lavora come direttore d’orchestra in relazione all’esecuzione dei concerti per pianoforte di Bach e Mozart. Attualmente si esibisce in recital al pianoforte, concerti con voce recitante, concerti per bambini, varie tournée con un totale di 5 concerti per pianoforte di Mozart, il Concerto per pianoforte di Schumann, il 4 ° Concerto per pianoforte di Beethoven, il Doppio Concerto di Mendelssohn, il Quintetto per pianoforte di Brahms opus 34, il “Quintetto di trote” di Schubert, il Concerto per pianoforte in mi minore di Chopin, il Concerto in sol maggiore di Ravel in Germania, Italia, Spagna, Austria, Belgio, Polonia, Repubblica Slovacca e Stati Uniti. 

La Deutsche Presse descrive Christoph Soldan come una personalità artistica che, in contrasto con un orientamento puramente tecnico-virtuosistico, si occupa della densità spirituale e della dimensione spirituale di un’opera d’arte. Born in 1964, the pianist studied with Prof. Eliza Hansen and Christoph Eschenbach at the Hamburg Academy of Music. The breakthrough to lively international concert activity came through a joint tour with Leonard Bernstein in the summer of 1989. The world-famous conductor Christoph Soldan commented: “I am impressed by the spiritual greatness of this young musician.” Since then, Soldan has performed numerous tours with renowned orchestras throughout Europe. Piano recital tour in October 1997 in Mexico and other Central American countries. In August 1998 he made his debut in Salzburg and in the Chamber Music Hall of the Philharmonie in Berlin, in May 1999 at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. In March 2000 three piano recitals in Japan. Radio and television productions at Hessischer Rundfunk, Deutschlandfunk, SWR, ORF and ZDF. The pas de deux for dance and piano – “moments of a lifetime” – was developed by his wife, the dancer and choreographer Stefanie Goes. This theatrical feature film had its premiere in Stuttgart in May 2000 and has changed constantly since then. To date, a total of 7 different versions have been created. Since 2000, Christoph Soldan has worked regularly with the writer Peter Härtling. In the spring of 2001 he played in Hamburg and Berlin, as well as concerts as part of the Prague Spring and with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic. In September 2002 live recordings at the Augsburger Mozartsommer and at the Maulbronn monastery. In January 2004 the new dance piece “Something of People and Angels” debuted, followed by a tour through South Africa. Since 2007 he has been working as a conductor in connection with the performance of piano concertos by Bach and Mozart. He currently performs piano recitals, recital concerts, children’s concerts, various tours with a total of 5 Mozart Piano Concertos, the Schumann Piano Concerto, Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto, the Double Concerto of Mendelssohn, Brahms’ Piano Quintet opus 34, Schubert’s “Trout Quintet”, Chopin’s Piano Concerto in E minor, Ravel’s Concerto in G major in Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Poland, Slovak Republic and the United States.

The Deutsche Presse describes Christoph Soldan as an artistic personality who, in contrast to a purely technical-virtuosic orientation, deals with the spiritual density and spiritual dimension of a work of art. This demand on music and oneself has become quite rare nowadays.
