Christoph von Weitzel (baritono)
“L’interpretazione della canzone di Weitzel penetra nell’esistenziale. Non è solo il bel canto ad essere interessante, ma anche il senso delle parole intensificato dalla musica, con cui vengono descritte situazioni emozionali fondamentali.” Ciò che Gerhard Rohde scrive del cantante sul Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung riflette la preoccupazione di Weitzel: partire dalla parola per scandagliare la musica, per occuparsi intensamente del significato per riscoprire il vero e il bello.
Christoph von Weitzel ha completato i suoi studi di canto con il professor John Lester (USA) e Barry Mora all’Opera di Francoforte. La sua partecipazione alla masterclass di Lied di Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, e in particolare il suo lavoro con il Kammersänger Walter Berry, hanno plasmato il suo sviluppo artistico.
Gli impegni lo hanno portato al Salzburger Landestheater, al Vogtland Theater Plauen e al Mainfranken Theater Würzburg come membro permanente. Ha cantato come ospite nelle opere di Francoforte, all’Opera di Norimberga, nei teatri di Zwickau e Ratisbona e all’”Alte Oper” di Francoforte, tra gli altri. Christoph von Weitzel si è esibito come ospite d’opera e in recital in festival d’opera in Austria, Italia, Inghilterra, Spagna, Repubblica Ceca, Danimarca, Polonia, Nuova Zelanda e Sudafrica.
Il repertorio concertistico di Christoph von Weitzel abbraccia la letteratura musicale europea di quattro secoli, così come compositori contemporanei.
Si è fatto un nome in particolare con le versioni messe in scena dei cicli di canzoni di Schubert e lo sviluppo di nuove forme di presentazione e formati di recital di canzoni. I recital di Lieder lo portano regolarmente in numerose sale da concerto e festival tedeschi ed europei come Francoforte (Alte Oper), Monaco di Baviera (Gasteig), Berlino (Palais am Festungsgraben), Aberdeen (Haddo House), Amburgo (Laeizehalle), Mozartfest Würzburg, Mosel Musikfestival, Hohenloher Kultursommer, Fränkischer Sommer, Schubertiade Roskilde Denmark, in Italia e molti altri. Così come verso altri continenti come la Nuova Zelanda e il Sud Africa.
Ha registrato per produzioni radiofoniche (ad esempio il Requiem di M. Durufé) e televisive, nonché registrazioni di CD.
L’ex cancelliere federale Helmut Schmid e l’ex presidente federale Christian Wulff, tra gli altri, sono sostenitori del progetto di Christoph von Weitzel “Opera per i senzatetto – Winterreise – Le canzoni diventano Grand Opera”, in cui la versione messa in scena di quest’opera serve come mezzo per sensibilizzare sulla crescente situazione dei senzatetto e sul lavoro dei loro aiutanti. Con questo progetto, si è fatto un nome ben oltre il mondo della musica nella Germania occidentale.
Ulrich Pakusch (pianoforte)
Direzione, pianoforte e organo: queste materie, che Ulrich Pakusch ha studiato nei conservatori di Saarbrücken e Francoforte sul Meno, costituiscono i tre pilastri dei suoi ampi campi di attività.
Dopo aver ricoperto incarichi nei teatri di Ratisbona, Kaiserslautern e Karlsruhe, Ulrich Pakusch è stato assunto come direttore degli studi e direttore di banda al Mainfranken Theatre di Würzburg dal 2004 al 2011. Oltre al repertorio classico-romantico di base, ha diretto numerose opere del XX e XXI secolo e ha debuttato composizioni di Magret Wolf, Michael Obst, Manfred Trojahn e Gerhard Stäbler. Ha poi assunto la direzione musicale della scuola d’opera presso la Hochschule für Musik di Würzburg fino a febbraio 2019 e dall’ottobre 2018 è responsabile della direzione musicale delle produzioni operistiche presso la Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” di Lipsia. Dal 2023 è professore in questa posizione.
Oltre alle sue attività universitarie, Ulrich Pakusch ha diretto i Berliner Symphoniker ed è un appassionato accompagnatore di Lied.
Come organista, i concerti come ospite lo hanno portato sugli organi della Berlin Philharmonie e della Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt, della Basilica di San Pietro a Roma, Calgary, Auckland, Nazareth, Betlemme e Gerusalemme.

Christoph von Weitzel (Baritone)
“Weitzel’s song interpretation penetrates into the existential. It is not only the beautiful singing that is interesting, but also the sense of words intensified by the music, with which fundamental emotional situations are described.” What Gerhard Rohde writes about the singer in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reflects Weitzel’s concern: Starting from the word to fathom the music, to deal intensively with the meaning in order to rediscover the true and the beautiful.
Christoph von Weitzel completed his vocal studies with Professor John Lester (USA) and Barry Mora at the Frankfurt Opera. His participation in Elisabeth Schwarzkopf’s Lied masterclass, and in particular his work with Kammersänger Walter Berry, shaped his artistic development.
Engagements have taken him to the Salzburger Landestheater, the Vogtland Theater Plauen and the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg as a permanent member. Christoph von Weitzel’s concert repertoire spans the European music literature of four centuries, as well as contemporary composers.
He made a name for himself particularly with the staged versions of Schubert ́s song cycles and the development of new forms of presentation and formats of song recitals. Lieder recitals regularly take him to numerous German and European concert halls and festivals such as Frankfurt (Alte Oper), Munich (Gasteig), Berlin (Palais am Festungsgraben), Aberdeen (Haddo House), Hamburg (Laeizehalle), Mozartfest Würzburg, Mosel Musikfestival, Hohenloher Kultursommer, Fränkischer Sommer, Schubertiade Roskilde Denmark, in Italy and many others. As well as to other continents such as New Zealand and South Africa.
He recorded for radio (e.g. M. Durufé’s Requiem) and television productions as well as CD recordings.
Former Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmid and former Federal President Christian Wulff, among others, are patrons of Christoph von Weitzel’s project “Opera for the Homeless – Winterreise – Songs become Grand Opera”, in which the staged version of this work serves as a medium to raise awareness of the increasing plight of homeless people and the work of their helpers.
With this project, he made a name for himself far beyond the world of music in West Germany.
Ulrich Pakusch (piano)
Conducting, piano and organ: these subjects, which Ulrich Pakusch studied at the conservatories in Saarbrücken and Frankfurt am Main, form the three pillars of his wide-ranging fields of activity.
After positions at the theatres in Regensburg, Kaiserslautern and Karlsruhe, Ulrich Pakusch was engaged as director of studies and bandmaster at the Mainfranken Theatre in Würzburg from 2004 to 2011. In addition to the core classical-romantic repertoire, he conducted numerous 20th and 21st century works and premiered compositions by Magret Wolf, Michael Obst, Manfred Trojahn and Gerhard Stäbler.
He then took over the musical direction of the opera school at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg until February 2019, and since October 2018 has been responsible for the musical direction of opera productions at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig. Since 2023 he is professor in this position.
In addition to his university activities, Ulrich Pakusch has conducted the Berliner Symphoniker and he is a passionate Lied accompanist.
As an organist, guest concerts have taken him to the organs of the Berlin Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt, St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Calgary, Auckland, Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
